Action Overview: Design professional learning for supporting selected instructional practices and curriculum

This set of resources are designed to help educators design professional learning to support selected instructional practices and plans for curriculum development that were created in the Instructional Preparation and the Curriculum Preparation strategies of the portal.

Introduction

This action provides guidance in planning the professional learning to be provided by the organization to support instructional practices and curriculum. Previously in this Instruction and Curriculum section of the Portal, the Instruction Preparation strategy developed a plan and tools for supporting selected practices. The Curriculum Preparation strategy developed a plan to prepare the scope and sequence, unit plans, and instructional materials to support the selected practices. This action builds on those strategies.

This action is also related to the Portal strategy of the Professional Learning System. That strategy provided a high level, systems approach by building the culture for professional learning, developing the professional learning system, strengthening professional learning communities, and evaluating the system. This action provides guidance and planning for the utilization of that system for the professional learning needed to support instruction and curriculum improvement goals.
